Operations

Our cell was the first.  Since the mid-west experienced a six-week lag while the coasts were decimated, we had more time to prepare.  We didn't waste it.  There are two aspects to our cell.  Military and Organization

In our cell, Micah runs our military.  This includes combat training, weapon care and handling, vehicle maintenance, and strategy.  He gathers intel from our lieutenants in the field and works with them to take out the infected, help the survivors, and scavenge supplies/munitions from the hundreds of abandoned homes in our area. This is one of the most dangerous aspects of our operation since the infected often 'nest' in the homes of their victims.  Most of the fighters are so young, he hates exposing them to danger.  In the world we live in now, that just isn't an option.

Kate heads up our organization efforts.  Married to Micah, she rations food, medical supplies, ammunition, and clothing to our fighters.  Three of those fighters are her children, the rest are mostly their friends who managed to make it to our home when the killing started. Sometimes their parents made it.  Most didn't.  She's managed to adopt almost a dozen kids without homes and families of their own. She puts them to work, Micah trains them.
There are a few things we tell every person who passes through our cell.  Some are searching for lost loved ones, some are looking for a free ride in a safe place, some are just loners by nature.  No matter who you are, what your fighting skills are, there are three things you won't survive without:

Food - preferably dry or canned that isn't perishable.  High protein and complex carbohydrates will give you the energy you need to keep going.  Be careful while scavenging but don't be afraid to take what the dead will never use again.

Water - without fluids, you won't last long.  Bottled drinks like soda and tea are plentiful but you need to be sure you also drink water and juice.  We found an entire pallet of juice boxes in our local Wal-Mart once they shut it down and took off.  Since fresh produce and vegetables aren't going to be very plentiful, you need to think ahead since you'll need those missing vitamins.

Shelter - never sleep in the open.  Whether you crash in a business or an abandoned house, have some walls around you.  The infected have a slightly better sense of smell than non-infected and your scent on the open air will bring them running.  If you have no choice but to crash outside, rub leaves and other debris over yourself to disguise your scent.

Right after these three most important are things like vitamins, medical supplies (peroxide and bandages are easiest to find), and weapons.  Don't think you're out of luck if you don't have an M-16.  The infected respond just as badly to a shovel in the throat and being doused with gasoline and lit up as they do to a bullet in the brain.  The important thing is to take them down.  Use whatever you can find and run.

If you're a fighter, not just a person with an attitude problem but a fighter, we're happy to have you.  There are rules in a ZAT cell and if you can't follow them we can and will kick your ass back out to fend for yourself.  If you send an email to zombieannihilationteam@live.com, one of our commanders will get it.  If you can't guarantee access to check if we've responded, find a Wal-Mart or a huge warehouse to hole up in and keep an eye out for us.  Every cell will eventually make it to one of those locations.

What not to do:
  • Do not throw in with the criminals.  Unfortunately, some of the dregs of society managed to survive and they are carrying on their brutal treatment of their fellow man.  When we find one, usually committing some awful act, we kill them.  If you are a murderer, a rapist, or a person who preys on the many orphaned children...watch your back.
  • Do not think the infected can be rehabilitated or made well.  They can't.  They no longer have brain functions outside of feeding.  If your mom, dad, or best friend has been infected - it is too late.  There is no cure.  They won't ever come back to you.  Their time is done.  You can either make the hard choice and take them out or take the emotionally easier road and run.  There is no middle ground.  They will come after you.  They will kill you.  They will eat you.  Period.
  • Do not depend on anyone else to save you.  There are ZAT cells and other survivors scattered around the country but you may be too far away or their resources may be stretched too thin to help you.  Know you have the skills you need.  Abandoned libraries are a good place to get tips as well.

In the meantime, stay alert and stay alive.  We're pulling for you.
